The term elopement has always carried the weight of "running off into the sunset together!" I mean, that's literally the definition. In modern times though, elopements have evolved to be small vow exchanges of any kind. A courthouse ceremony, destination or adventure wedding, now even including a few friends in your wedding can still be considered an elopement.
Maya & JD were had recently relocated to Indiana when they decided it was their time to tie the knot. Coming all the way from California, they certainly were set on a new beginning. Yet, being that far away from their friends & families, they did opt to break traditional elopement rules & shared their plans with family before the big day.
When Maya first reached out about having their photos taken, she said that they really just wanted something focused on them to celebrate the event, but not necessarily about the event. Laidback, but playful & a little romantic.
After a private courthouse ceremony, they decided on having a staycation at the luxuriously modern Ironworks Hotel Indy, where they invited me to join them for a bridal session.
Their timeless attire choices beautifully contrasted with the hotel's industrial aesthetic. Classic & beautiful.
The spacious second floor lobby gave us beautiful natural light from the wall of windows & very welcoming leather couches to get snuggly on.
In the spirit of the playfulness Maya expressed to me about their relationship, JD couldn't resist the bellhop carts in the lower lobby & we had a full on Suite Life of Zack & Cody moment (with the assistance of the hotel staff, believe it or not!)
Thank you two for letting me share in your love.
